Vanishing Cultures

I have previously read part of an article on Seed Magazine's website called In Defense of Difference by Maywa Montenegro and Terry Glavin. The subject matter of the article is about how scientists are trying to protect the world's vanishing languages, cultures, and species. The article points out that the loss of cultures, languages, etc. makes the landscape more "monochromatic, homogenous and monocultural." It also points out that when a language or culture is lost, less knowledge is within/built within the world. It brings the point that when species vanish more than just genetic resources are lost but crucial links in a complicated ecological web.
